Accessible Luxury Power Catamaran Debuts at FLIBS 2026

Horizon Power Catamarans will unveil the new PC68A at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This pioneering model builds on the acclaimed PC68, bringing greater accessibility to luxury yachting.

Designed around independent wheelchair mobility, the PC68A introduces an integrated, multi-deck wheelchair-accessible elevator. It is the first power catamaran in its size class to offer this feature.

From boarding to enjoying the flybridge, Horizon has prioritised independence, comfort and freedom of movement. Moreover, the design retains the performance and luxury associated with the Horizon PC Series.

Accessible Yacht Design Without Compromise

Accessibility begins before guests step aboard. The PC68A offers five wheelchair-friendly boarding options, including a retractable ramp, widened side gates and a hydraulic hi-lo platform.

Once aboard, automatic salon doors and level flooring simplify movement throughout the main deck. Generously proportioned passageways also improve accessibility.

Furthermore, Horizon has relocated the tender crane to facilitate transfers between the yacht, dock and tender. These practical features aim to make everyday life aboard more comfortable and independent.

Integrated Wheelchair-Accessible Elevator

The PC68A’s standout innovation is its purpose-built, multi-deck wheelchair-accessible elevator.

The elevator connects the owner’s stateroom in the starboard hull with the main deck and flybridge. It also provides access to the Portuguese Deck.

Frameless glass doors and an integrated rotating platform simplify entry and exit. Consequently, wheelchair users can move between the yacht’s principal living areas more independently.

Horizon has integrated the system into the interior design, combining practical functionality with discreet styling.

Interior Designed for Independent Living

Accessibility extends throughout the PC68A’s interior, rather than focusing solely on boarding and movement between decks.

The owner’s suite includes a purpose-built transfer platform. Meanwhile, the galley features repositioned appliances and accessible storage.

These adaptations make everyday tasks more practical and comfortable. They also demonstrate Horizon’s commitment to integrating accessibility into the yacht’s original design.

Rather than adapting a conventional layout, the builder has considered wheelchair access from the outset.

Performance and Onboard Comfort

Alongside its accessibility features, the PC68A retains the cruising capabilities and onboard comfort of the Horizon PC Series.

Twin MAN i6 engines, each producing 850 hp, power the yacht. Horizon quotes a cruising speed of approximately 20 knots and a top speed of around 25 knots.

The yacht also features Horizon’s Silent Living Package, designed to support quieter operation at anchor.

The system combines a 1,600 Ah Victron battery bank with a Termodinamica air-conditioning system. Under suitable operating conditions, this configuration enables up to 20 hours of generator-free operation daily.

Additionally, high-output alternators recharge the batteries while underway. This arrangement supports quieter, more comfortable stays at anchor.

A More Accessible Future for Luxury Yachting

With the PC68A, Horizon Power Catamarans brings wheelchair accessibility into the heart of luxury yacht design.

Its integrated elevator, accessible boarding arrangements and adapted interior offer greater independence aboard. At the same time, the yacht retains the performance and comfort expected from the Horizon PC Series.
