Arctic Solo Travellers Get Room to Roam

Secret Atlas has unveiled six new single cabins for Arctic Solo Travellers onboard its expedition vessel MV Freya.

The redesign responds to growing demand for solo travel experiences in the Arctic.  The company reconfigured the vessel to offer private accommodation for half its guests without charging single supplements.

Four Classic Single cabins now sit on Deck 1, while two more occupy Deck 2. As a result, six of the ship’s 12 passengers can enjoy private cabins at no extra cost.

Small-Ship Arctic Cruising for Independent Explorers

Secret Atlas specialises in small-group expedition cruising across the Arctic and Antarctic.

Unlike larger commercial cruise ships, MV Freya carries only 12 guests. Consequently, travellers enjoy a quieter and more personal expedition atmosphere.

The company believes smaller groups encourage stronger connections between guests.  Passengers can spend their days spotting polar bears, exploring by Zodiac, and joining guided shore landings. Afterwards, they can relax together over dinner and share stories from the day.  Each new single cabin includes a private en-suite bathroom and comfortable living space.

Focus on Expedition-Style Cruising

Founded in 2019, Secret Atlas operates under the philosophy of “Explorers for Explorers.”  The company aims to deliver immersive expedition cruising without the crowds often found on mainstream polar voyages.  Its Arctic expeditions carry just 12 passengers, while Antarctic sailings host a maximum of 44 guests.

According to Secret Atlas Co-Founder Michele D’Agostino, solo travellers increasingly seek shared adventures with like-minded explorers.  He explained that many travellers value both community and personal space during expedition voyages.
