Attending Cowes Week in August with the kids? If so Sunsail will be promoting their new ‘Pirates of the British Virgin Island Treasure Hunt’ tour on their stand throughout the week.
Children will be invited to mark where they think the buried treasure in the BVI is hidden. Their parents will then fill in a numbered postcard and then a numbered sticker is marked on the map by the child.
At the end of the week, Sunsail will announce the winner of a week’s charter in the BVI with five runner-ups goodie bags for kids.
Launching this October in partnership with the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Tourist Board, would-be Indiana Jones-types, adventurous Nellie Bly hopefuls and Amazing Race wannabe’s will receive a pirate eye patch on their charter along with a map containing a list of six BVI Pirate Treasure Troves:
- Peg Legs, Tortola
- Aragorns Studio, Trellis Bay, Beef Island
- Pirates Bite, Norman Island
- The Bitter End Yacht Club, Virgin Gorda
- The Soggy Dollar Bar, Jost Van Dyke
- Deadman’s Beach Bar and Grille, Peter Island
On arriving on the Pirate Treasure Troves spots, children (and other pirates) will have to approach the counter wearing their patch/bandana and ask for their treasure (sword not obligatory), and they will be given a gold coin. Each participant can collect up to six gold coins to take home as their treasure together with a prize certificate.
Prices from £1597 for a one-week charter (sleeps up to six people) for a two-cabin Sunsail 38 monohull (includes hats, bandanas, eye-patches, treasure map as well as outboard, end cleaning, fuel and YDW) departing on 10 October 2015 from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
