Burgess Lures Top Industry Professionals Away from Competition

Despite tough trading conditions in the superyacht industry over the past three years, all divisions of the Burgess are reported to have prospered and gearing up for a busy year ahead.


They have recently supplemented their workforce of over 130 luring some of the top names away from other firms.

Matt Emerson has been appoited Director for the Americas. Previously President of Camper & Nicholsons USA, the recruitment of this much-respected and senior industry figure demonstrates the commitment the company has to the US market on both the east and west coasts.


In his new role Matt who will based out of offices in Manhattan, takes responsibility for developing new sales, charter and management opportunities not only in North America, but across Latin America.

Joining him and working from the New York office is Yacht Manager Andy McNab, whose appointment was prompted by the growing number of US-owned superyachts under the firms operational management. Andy is a well-known figure in the industry, with extensive yacht building and yacht management experience, including seven years as Director of Yacht Management at MCM in Newport, Rhode Island.

In recent months four new Charter Managers have also recently joined the charter division to support the development of a fleet of superyachts. In Monaco, Charter Manager Sonia Palfrey Britta Ax and Jenny Burgess all joined from Camper & Nicholsons. In the firms Miami office, Charmaine du Plessis formally with Merle Wood & Associates and International Yacht Collection, and has taken up the role as Charter Manager.
