La Venise Verte Earns Major European Campsite Recognition

Family-owned Camping La Venise Verte has secured Runner-Up in the Small and Charming Campsite Award 2025.

The award came from the Caravan and Motorhome Club and Alan Rogers Guides & Travel. It recognises campsites with fewer than 150 pitches.

Located in the heart of western France’s Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park, the campsite stood out among more than 2,700 campsites across Europe.

The judges highlighted destinations that deliver authentic hospitality, close connections with nature, and genuinely welcoming experiences.

A Commitment to Authentic Camping

Owners Nadège and Grégory have operated the campsite since 2019.

Since taking over, they have focused on preserving its independent character. Their approach combines simplicity, comfort, environmental responsibility, and personal hospitality.

As a result, Camping La Venise Verte has become a popular destination for both French and international visitors.

The campsite sits within a protected Natura 2000 area. Consequently, it attracts travellers seeking slower and more meaningful holidays. Many visitors come to enjoy cycling, canoeing, wildlife, and outdoor living.

Facilities Designed for Nature Lovers

Camping La Venise Verte offers 84 spacious pitches beneath mature trees.

Guests can also choose from 33 fully equipped accommodation options, including lodges, cabins, and mobile homes.

Facilities include:

  • A heated swimming pool
  • A wellness area
  • Bicycle hire
  • Canoe rental
  • Direct access to cycling routes
  • Easy access to the Marais Poitevin canals
  • An on-site restaurant
  • Grocery services
  • An electric vehicle charging station

Recognition for a Dedicated Team

For the owners, the award means far more than industry recognition.

Instead, it celebrates the daily efforts of the entire team. Together, they work to maintain the warm atmosphere that defines the campsite.

Nadège and Grégory said: “In a world where everything is becoming standardised, charm, authenticity and human connections matter more than ever.

“Many holidays can feel similar. However, a preserved natural setting and a friendly atmosphere create something truly special.

“Our goal is to offer a genuine holiday experience that remains simple, welcoming and memorable.”

The award confirms that small, independently run campsites can still deliver the authentic experiences many travellers now seek. For Camping La Venise Verte, that commitment remains at the heart of everything it does.
