The classic steam yacht Delphine is up for sale yet again.
Over the years that we have been writing about superyachts we have mentioned this classic superyacht on this website several times
In July 2013 we reported that she had failed to sell at auction and was in the hands of a broker.
We published a post with links to two videos shortly thereafter and they can be viewed here.
And in a time even earlier than that on September 4, 2009, we explained how and why this superyacht was the inspiration for a beautiful timepiece. See our story entitled Time Stands Still on Superyachts
Now we report that once again the steamship is the subject of a judicial auction. The ship is currently at the Sud Marine Shipyard in Marseille, France.
The lawyer Marc Bernié, has said. “The auction has been court-ordered because the current owner did not pay the shipyard.”
The auction will overseen by the French legal firm BMC Avocats. It is set to begin on February 5 2025.
The minimum bid must be €500,000, and interested bidders must place a deposit in an escrow account beforehand.
By any measure used, the classic yacht Delphine must be described as extra ordinary. the yacht was built for the US automobile magnate Horace Dodge.
Delphine was built at the Great Lakes Engineering Works in Ecorse, Michigan during 1920. She cost US$20 million. At 78.5 metres overall, with a displacement of 1,342 tons, she was launched in 1921. And remains today the largest yacht ever built in the US still in commission.
