There is a new look to the 10th edition of All the Aires France. Following a straw poll of readers the publishers have added additional maps on chapter title pages.
In answer to the question “which maps do you use the most?” 39.89 % used both maps, 37.16% used the fold out versions, and 21.31% used those on the inside covers
Authors and publishers of the guide book Chris and Mel explained why they added maps to the chapters saying, “We did it not just because it looks nice, but because it seems like a really good idea.”
When Vicarious Media first published their guide in 2007. Chris and Mel chose the name after attending outdoor motorcaravan shows. Customers kept asking “Is that all the Aires?”
Yes, it is
Now for the 8 editions they have been able to truthfully answer “Yes, it is”.
Over the past 18 years Chris and Mel have observed significant changes and nothing more obvious that the increased use French Aires are now getting.
Interestingly, Aires are opening and closing at the same rate, keeping the overall number just short of 4000. A significant number of municipal campsites are changing into barriered Aires, mostly due to CampingCar Park involvement. Some operate as automated campsites during summer.
Most edited edition ever
Mel & Chris explain “This is our most edited edition ever, and yet we enjoyed working on it so much more than the previous edition. Inspecting Aires in our favourite region Eastern France certainly added to the enjoyment.”
The new definitive guidebook includes 3,992 entries, with 152 new Aires added since December 23.
Every Aire has 53 pieces of information to check, plus tangible things in the information. At least 21,000 pieces of information were checked during editing, and there has been thousands of amendments!
