Yorkshire Coast tourism bosses hope that their new Route YC initiative will make waves with new autumn and winter campaign
The organisation behind Yorkshire’s ultimate road trip, ‘Route YC’, have announced plans to launch a new campaign to showcase the region’s coast and countryside this autumn and winter.
The new Route YC campaign has been designed to help visitors explore a choice of six destinations along the Yorkshire Coast outside the main visitor season. From the sand spit of Spurn Point to the coves of Whitby. Or the golden sandy beaches of Hornsea and Bridlington and everything in between. And that includes Scarborough, Filey and Withernsea.
Create your own outdoor adventure
From driving and sailing to bikes, hikes, winter walks and wildlife-spotting, the team at Route YC is encouraging visitors to create their own outdoor adventure. Doing so around the Yorkshire coast and countryside. They want visitors to spend more time getting off the beaten track to discover what the region has to offer.
The focus of the campaign will be on sustainable and eco-friendly tourism. As well as cultural immersion and local experiences; adventure and outdoor activities; wellness and relaxation. Not forgetting food and drink tourism.
Route YC is already working with over 250 tourism leisure and hospitality business members, local community groups and industry partners across the region. They are helping them extend the season and bring visitors to the area to boost the local economy.
The initiative is being geared towards promoting reasons to visit Route YC from October to March. It will showcase areas that can accommodate visitors in the quieter season. As well as highlighting the opportunities for wellness getaways off-season.
Raithwaite Sandsend, near Whitby; Apartments @52 in Bridlington; and The Bike & Boot in Scarborough are amongst the list of top accommodation providers. They have already signed up to the campaign and will be staying open to visitors throughout autumn and winter. Visitors can look forward to a range of special retreats on the coast or in the countryside. Menus will include local food and drink, real log fires and breath-taking views.
