Sam Sorgiovanni Joins Speaker Line up For The Superyacht Gathering 2019
The Australian based superyacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni has joined the speaker line up in Auckland New Zealand for The Superyacht Gathering 2019.
The inaugural event runs from 27 to 29 March 2019 and aims to showcase the world of superyachts to the South Pacific’s growing pool of potential owners, charterers and visitors.
Sorgiovanni is joined by other new speakers including Captain Mike Gregory, Fleet Captain of ‘The Fly Fleet,’ which includes the 74m Dragonfly, and Tracy and Mike Mahoney, owners of the sailing yacht Tawera.
Sorgiovanni has worked with many shipyards and on projects including 126m Octopus and 75.5m Anastasia. Recents projects include the world’s biggest tri-hulled yacht, 84m White Rabbit, built by Echo Yachts.
At the seminar will present case studies on White Rabbit’s innovative hull form, and a one-year research project into a zero-emission yacht and the challenges this presented. How can we create near zero emission designs, that perform better and have a lower environmental impact, and what technology developments do we need to invest in to achieve them?
Held on day two of The Superyacht Gathering’s three-day line up, the Symposium day will be broken down into several sessions, around topics including Design, Altruism, the America’s Cup, and candid Ownership Insight.
Captain Mike Gregory of The Fly Fleet will talk about Making a Difference
Footage from the field and candid insight into the altruistic work that 74m Dragonfly and the ‘Fly Fleet’ is doing around the world, at the behest of the owner. He will provide inspiration on how other yachts can (and should) follow their lead.
Other new speakers announced include Tracy and Mike Mahoney who will talk about Hands On Ownership. Since buying Tawera in 2016 Tracy and Mike have made the most of life on the water. With Tawera now on the market, the Mahoney’s will discuss their ownership adventure to date and what comes next…
Held in Auckland next March, the Superyacht Gathering is experience-based event seeking to play an important role in building a community around superyachts in the lead up to, including, and beyond the America’s Cup 2021.
