Camper & Nicholsons Marinas and the developer of the new Edinburgh Marina development has confirmed that the number of new permanent jobs created, as a result of the £500 million waterside development, will exceed the figure previously estimated by the City of Edinburgh Council in 2016.
As a result of phase one alone, which includes the new marina and hotel, the number of permanent job opportunities available was previously expected to reach 300 in CEC projections.
The latest details released by the developer show that phase one alone will now produce over 400 permanent employment opportunities for the local community.
Located 2.5miles (4km) NW of central Edinburgh, the new Edinburgh Marina, which will be the only fully accessible 24 /7 marina in the area, will be operated by, Camper & Nicholsons Marinas.
It is also rumoured that terms have now been agreed for the hotel and apartments (located immediately next to the purpose-built marina) to be operated by one of the leading international hotel brands, which has hitherto never been represented in Scotland and Edinburgh in particular.
Camper & Nicholsons is an old established original yachting brands that can trace its origins back to 1782 when boat building began in Gosport near Portsmouth.
They are experienced in the planning, development and operational management of its own marinas, with substantial experience in more than 25 countries and most recently it has been responsible for the refurbishment and management oversight of St Katharine Docks Marina in the City of London.
Edinburgh Marina is located 12m (16km) from the bridges over the Firth of Forth and 8 miles (12km) from Edinburgh International Airport. It benefits from excellent transport links via road, sea and rail, which will be further improved when the new tram extension to Granton and Leith is completed.
The marinaitself will provide 340 fully-serviced berths comprising approximately 24,400 sq. m. of berthing that forms the centrepiece of Edinburgh Marina Holdings masterplan for the whole 28 hectare site.
