On Saturday 8th April 2017 at the Salle du 8 mai, Square du 8 Mai 1945 in Antibes, the PYA is hosting a day of workshops for crew to develop new skills and knowledge
All sessions are free for crew to attend
The PYA will be on hand throughout the day to help with sea service, certification and advice, and will also be running a special promotion for attendees of the workshops to join the PYA with a 20% reduction on their 1st year’s membership.
The day will include an informal networking lunch and will be followed by a drinks happy hour.
09.30 – 10.30 Floristry Skills for Superyacht stews
For interior crew

11:00 – 12:00 Ballast Water Management – how new regulations will affect yachts
For captains and chief engineers
If your yacht is 50 metres or more or has a ballasting capacity of more than 8 cubic metres, you have to be compliant with the new IMO regulations for ballast water discharge which come into force in September 2017. Cathelco, specialists in BWT systems for yachts, invite you to a presentation to look more closely at the implications and how to put together a Ballast Water Management plan on board.
12:05 – 13:05 Scuba Diving Safety for Superyachts
For exterior crew or anyone involved with on-board diving
In this workshop, Alex Diamond, from Diamond Diving will guide crew through safe scuba equipment storage and maintenance, emergency assistance plans for diving, extra diving skills needed for Superyachts, managing client expectations and demands and the importance of regularly maintaining crew dive and rescue skills.

Tim Moss, Engineering instructor from Bluewater Yachting, and the PYA Sea Service team will guide you through the minefield of the MCA’s regulations for yacht engineers, and help you make the right choices for your career.

The PYA Director of Training and Certification provides an insider’s guide on how to prepare for and apply for your OOW. Questions on your sea service, Training Record Book, exam preparation or anything else? This is where you’ll find the answers and the most up to date information you need to know to take the next step on the yachting career ladder.
15:30 – 16:30 Keeping your money yours – tax & residency planning
For all crew
An informative session for all crew to gain understanding of various areas of money management for yachting professionals. Subjects covered will include tax residency in yachting, declaring undeclared income, CRS- how to answer the letter from your bank and NI/Social Security under MLC.
17:00 – 18:30 Wine-tasting
For interior crew
Join Master of Wine, Louise Sydbeck for a crash course in wine tasting, food and wine matching and how to build a good wine list on-board.
