The re development of the club house and marina at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club began in February 2015 and work progressing with a completion date planned for April 2016.
The redevelopment to enhance the club’s facilities and services involves the transformation of an 18-year-old-building into a more modern complex while retaining its aesthetic appeal and the essential nostalgic elements of the original structure.
The new 45 berth marina can accommodate yachts of between 12 and 20 metres, with a further five to accommodate super yachts up to 80 metres.
All berths will be equipped with new power systems of 60 Amps up to 400 Amps, sanitation pumps, safety and fire-fighting equipment, and water and fuel for their boats.
24-hour security patrols are already in place and will continue when the marina is fully opened.
The main Clubhouse building will host 32 hotel style bedrooms 9 of which will be located on the 1st floor with balconies offering ocean vistas.
The other 23 rooms will be built overlooking the water at Fisherman’s Wharf
Down stairs the clubhouse offers a new lifestyle zone with retail and beauty therapy outlets, office space and marine related services as well as restaurants and bars.
The RLYC, is positioned as the ideal stopover for yachts moving north from Singapore or south from Phuket.
Established 18 years ago, the club has maintained its status as a prominent destination for sailors by providing world-class marina and berthing facilities as well as food and beverage services in an idyllic island setting.
