While cruising in the Caribbean we have been trying to find out what is going on with the on / off plans to build a superyacht marina on Canouan one of the islands in the Grenadines.

It seems that a deal has been concluded and the 80 berth marina is back on the agenda

Swiss-Italian businessman Antonio Saladino’s Canouan Resorts Development (CRD) and Dermot Desmond the owner of Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados are said to be behind the plans to build a 26-suite, six-villa, ultra-luxurious hotel five-star hotel and marina which will be lined with several high-end restaurants on the south of the island.

Originally the hotel was to have been called the Pink Sands Club, to emphasise the link to Sandy Lane hotel. Locally however, we discovered it was likely to open under a different name.

More than half of the island’s 2,500 residents are already employed by resorts, that include the Canouan Resort the Tamarind Beach Hotel & Yacht Club.
