The Guernsey based Bachmann Group has entered the yacht management market with their first client, the 64m classic yacht La Sultana (ex Aji-Petri)
When built as Aji-Petri she carried on board 102 passengers in cabins and a further 110 on the deck together with a crew of 46. She plied a passenger carrying trade in the Black Sea under the Hammer and Sickle of Soviet Russia. When that trade dried up, she became part of the Soviet Space Race team at sea deployed in the recovery of rockets and capsules and even acted as a soviet spy ship
The yacht has recently been re launched following a painstaking seven-year conversion said to have taken over one million, two hundred thousand man hours of work to complete.
Commenting on the new management division, Group CEO Nick Saul said; “We have been assisting ship and yacht owners with crewing, ownership, recruitment and training for many years and so when we approached to assist with the total management of the yacht we were excited by the challenge and ready to go. We have been assisting some commercial clients with their ISM compliance for some time now, and with the knowledge base and skill levels that our staff have, it was a natural progression.
The Bachmann Group have set up an operating company for the Panamanian flagged La Sultana, based in Guernsey.
