The German yacht-builder Lürssen has earned an international reputation as a specialist in exclusive, custom-built superyachts. 23 of the top 100 yachts have been built by Lürssen with 7 of them listed in the top 20.
The company has recently launched project Orchid from a floating dock 29 months after her keel was laid in 2012 and 19 months after her technical launch in 2013.
Project Orchid is now being readied for her sea trials and will be delivered to her owners in fall 2015. She will be the second yacht Lürssen will deliver in 2015.
The privately run company was founded in 1875 and remains solely in the hands of the 4th generation of the Lürssen family. With a workforce of 1800, Lürssen maintains seven state-of-the-art facilities all in Northern Germany in Bremen-Aumund, Lemwerder, Berne, Rendsburg, Wilhelmshaven, Hamburg and Wolgast. Its headquarters are located in Bremen.
Both Exterior and Interior design of the new yacht are by the British based design group Reymond Langton Design.
The yacht displays a bold, contemporary design throughout, personified both by the dynamic, sculptural shaping of the exterior, as well as the bright, elegant spaces in her interior.
A subtle selection of light complimentary finishes enhances the open spaces on board. Stand out features of the layout include the large waterside beach club, VIP guest suites with fold down balconies and extensive spa and treatment facilities.
Since inception the Project Coordination has been undertaken by yacht managers Y.CO working closely with builders, designers and the various technical teams employed by the owners to ensure the clients wishes were fulfilled.
That same team will now manage the transition to the Y.CO Yacht Management department and the Captain and crew will prepare the vessel for delivery for Owners first voyage later this year.
