Sailing the Coast of Oman On Board Ibra,

IMG_0323

Built some 15 years ago Ibra is an 85 foot original wooden dhow that has been totally transformed into a sleek modern yacht whilst retaining the grace and charm such traditional vessels have.

Unlike other dhows pressed into service as pleasure yachts Ibra was never used as a trading vessel having been built as a pleasure dhow. Three years ago she sailed to Dubai and entered the facility at Gumwood Yacht Interiors where Executive Director Mohamed Al Harthy oversaw a total rebuild. What emerged 18 months later was perhaps the world’s very first super dhow

Today under the very capable hands of Clara Zawawi the Chairman and Managing Director of the yacht charter company Ocean Blue International she is a special charter yacht that is catching on fast among the discerning few who seek to cruise the undiscovered coast of Oman

She is available for special short break charters for families or friends or can be chartered on a day basis as a one of a kind venue for up to 30 guests.

Her three cabins accommodate 6 guests in style and the master cabin aft in which we were accommodated, features two very comfortable queen sized beds

No expense has been spared during her transformation. Comfort of her guests is a byword, with all modern conveniences including a fully equipped galley, TV in all guest accommodation and the electronic navigation systems allowing her to take guests in maximum security on voyages overnight or over several days.

We spent several days on board and immensely enjoyed the yacht and the hospitality offered
