Ozgun Yacht Design (OYD) came about in 2010 when Emrecan Ozgun broke away from Karatas Yacht Design the naval architect firm headed up by Ibrahim Karatas.
He moved from Istanbul to Antalya in 2009 and in the years since then he and is wife Kamer has built an award winning team, 12 men strong, making OYD the largest team of yacht specialist naval architects in Turkey.
Quite a feat for a man yet to see his 35th birthday.
Among his recent assignments are the engineering design for the 57 metre Lion Spirit, the 63 metre Irimari, the 63 metre, Estel and, together with Mulder Yacht Design, the new 68 metre Skyfall all being built inside the Tax Free Zone in Antalya by Sunrise Yachts Turkey’s leading and at the moment most successful SuperYacht builder.
Having worked for Dunya Yachts now renamed Ursa Yachts in the past he also lists among his current client list: Bilgin Yachts, where he has a 46 metre, and Alia Yachts, where he has a Project to build a 30 metre steel hull and aluminium superyacht
His name, Ozgun translates into English as Unique or Original and quite coincidently that reflects the quality and inspirational attributes of his teams work
