The shipyards in the Tax Free Zone at Antalya, Turkey are showing the same positive signs of recovery as are being reported in Italy France and Germany.
While there has been a change of names over the doors at many of the shipyards over the year the Zone is thriving and the shortage of skilled labour is attracting the attention of shipyard workers from Tuzla down to the south of the country where the climate is kinder and the standard of living is cheaper.
Sunrise Yachts are leading the pack with five yachts under construction and a sixth about to begin. The yard has in build:
- 60 m Irimari a displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Espen Oeino
- 60 m Estel a displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Espen Oeino
- 57 m Lion Spirit a displacement motor yacht to a design from Espen Oeino
- 68 m Skyfall displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Vallicelli & Co.
The yard plans to start construction on a 70 metre spec build just as soon as they deliver the new build 45 metre Sunset and the 48 metre refit project, Skyfall 2
Alia Yachts shipyard has the following under construction:
- 60 metre displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Omega
- 40 metre displacement composite motor yacht to a design by Sam Sorgiovanni
- 30 metre displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Omega
Mayra Yachts has under construction:
- 50 m Euphoria displacement steel hulled motor yacht to a design from Ken Frievok
Sarp Yachts has under construction:
- 50 m displacement motor yacht with a steel hull and a composite superstructure
