Numarine the Turkish boat builder has long been looking to expand into the explorer yacht market and has announced plans to do so.
Company CEO Omer Malaz told us: “Working with our long time designer Can Yalman we have developed three sizes of explorer yachts, from 20 metres up to 40.
He added, “We will build these in steel, a new departure for us here. We feel that steel is the logical material for an explorer yacht but we will still bring in our composite experience into the equation by matching the steel hulls to composite superstructures.”
These explorer yachts will feature a vertical bow and will appeal to owners who want to live aboard for extended periods and those seeking to travel the world.
Steel hulls will be built by a sub-contractor and the 20m and 30m sized explorer versions delivered to the current yard for fitting out and completion.
The larger 40 metre yachts will be completed at a facility close to the water in nearby Tusla.
To expand internationally, the company has has formed Numarine International and based it in the UK.
Managing Director Ian Birdsall said, “We have appointed distributors on both the East Coast and West Coast of the USA and with the Wo Kee Hong Group representing us in Hong Kong and existing Numarine agents in the South of France we are well on our way to establishing a chain of service stations around the world so that owners can get quick access to support.”
