Since its launch during the latter part of last year, the new system from Awlwood MA is fast becoming the choice for protecting exterior wood on superyachts above the waterline.

The product from AkzoNobel’s Awlgrip business, has already been used during a number of new build and refit projects in Europe, North America and Australia, including the 90ft Humphreys Yacht designed Tempus 90 Tempus Fugit and the recently restored classic powerboat Trinidad.
Designed specifically to work in perfect synchronicity with any wood, it is formulated to form a strong yet flexible link with the wood structure to protect whilst allowing the beauty of the natural coating and grain to shine through.
In addition to protecting against water and stopping oils and resins from leaching out of the wood, it also shields against sunlight, negating the need for re-application every single year.
It retains the same gloss, DOI (Distinctness of Image) and natural appearance as first application for multiple seasons.
Formulated for professional application only, Awlwood is a single pack, two product system comprising of a Primer (clear, yellow, or red) and Clear Finish (satin or gloss).
The complete finish is achieved with no sanding required in-between coats. It can also be applied over a wide temperature and humidity range (even down to 4°C).
