Day 2
After that long 20 hour flight from London to Santiago in Chile having changed aircraft in Madrid the one thing you really crave is a good nights rest in a luxury surroundings
And guess what? We have found it!
Nestled at the foot of Santiago’s Metropolitan Park in the colourful vibrant neighbourhood of Bellavista, is The Aubrey. As Santiago’s 1st designer boutique hotel it is, without doubt, the city’s top urban retreat, combining style, service and an ideal location
If you are seeking a stylish, design-driven boutique hotel with personalised service, character, and direct access to some of the city’s best attractions then we suggest, you join the trend.
Following three years of careful restoration, Australian and British owners Mark Cigana and Will Martin opened the doors to independent travellers in 2010 it has gathered a band of loyal customers ever since.
Just steps from Pablo Neruda’s beloved “La Chascona,” and many restaurants, nightlife, and cultural and recreational activities the hotel is as we found out a delight.
Located within a masterfully restored 1927 mansion, the décor blends the old with the new, rejecting the “cookie cutter” approach. The hotel is not huge and boasts just 15 guestrooms but each is individually sized and decorated.
They feature dark wood, copper lamps, polished parquet floors, and geometrically patterned linens. Room categories include doubles with terraces, cozy loft rooms, four light and airy “Pavilion” rooms with an outdoor seating area, and two spacious suites.
The Aubrey’s San Cristobal Suite is ideal for honeymooners or a romantic escape, and the Art Deco Suite has a large seating area and an independent entrance. All rooms are lavishly appointed with free Wi-Fi, LCD cable TVs, fine cotton sheets, feather beds, powerful showers, and mini bars.
Reasonable rates include a full breakfast. A highly trained bilingual staff provides attentive service that fulfils each guest’s needs, giving us the sensation of feeling very much at home in a foreign city.
The Aubrey attracts all senses, through architecture, design, art and cuisine. The numerous common spaces include a courtyard patio, a heated outdoor pool with hydro-massage beds and a pool lounge with bar service.
The hotel has designer-furnished salons and public seating areas, and the front desk team can assist in planning city tours, wine tours, bicycle rental and visits to ski resorts.
