Proving that they are prepared to go the extra mile when it comes to care of the environment, one ship and yacht delivery specialist is to carbon offset the first 10,000 litres of fuel for each delivery (at no cost to their client), whilst continuing to offer clients the option to offset the remaining fuel requirement for the passage.
Since 2011, International Maritime Services (IMS) have included the service as an option for all delivery voyages. Now, they have extended this using the fully-documented procedure from Yacht Carbon Offset.
This means that the carbon footprint from the vessel fuel is counteracted, tonne for tonne, by equivalent greenhouse gas emissions reductions from verified green energy projects.
Brendan Cooley, Chief Operating Officer at IMS said “we are determined to manage vessel operations in an environmentally sustainable manner. So whether we are assisting with an ocean passage for a super yacht or delivering a high speed ferry, a patrol boat or a tug, we think that carbon offsetting is the right approach. We have long encouraged our clients to consider this option, and we judge the time is right to become even more proactive on this important issue.”
