Italian Super Yacht Builder Sells Shares to Chinese

Close on the heels of a deal which saw Chinese interests acquire the British boat builders Sunseeker comes news that Italian super yacht builder Sanlorenzo has signed a joint venture with the Chinese group Sundiro Holding to raise 30 million Euros while keeping the majority (56%) of the Company inside Italian hands.

Sundiro Holding, is a Chinese Company listed on the Shenzen Stock Exchange market active in the production of Honda motorbikes on license.

The agreement allows to produce boats from 10 to 20 meters inside China, for the local market and will open up the Chinese market to motor yachts in the 22 to 62 metre range which will as now be built in the three Italian Sanlorenzo production complexes in:
  • La Spezia
  • Viareggio
  • Massa Carrara
Since its creation 15 years ago, Sundiro Holding has produced 18 million units of Honda motorbikes on license, with 4.700 employees and a turnover of around 2 billion Euro.
