While attending the Benetti Yachtmasters event last week we learned from Vincenzo Poerio that the company’s Chairman and CEO, Paolo Vitelli has been elected to Italian Parliament following the general election that took place from February 24-25.
Vitelli, had earlier announced his political commitment to Italy’s outgoing Prime Minister Mario Monti last January.
He was elected for the Piedmont region in the Parliament of the Italian Republic.
Vincenzo Poerio, the managing director of Benetti explained, that his boss took the decision to enter politics because he wanted to help his country which he believed to be in urgent need for reforms, infrastructures, reduced taxation, and labour policy.
The elections were however in conclusive with no one party or coalition obtaining sufficient votes to win an outright majority.
