He holds a degree in Architecture from N.C. State University, and an Associates Degree in Naval Architecture from the Yacht Design Institute in Blue Hill, Maine. A perpetual creator,
Our studio’s history begins in the early 1980s, when founder Ward D. Setzer launched a design career under the tutelage of the late J.B. Hargrave. Hargrave would have a profound early impact on Setzer’s career: “Hargrave was a perfectionist, and he instilled in me a lifelong drive to always ask why and why not as a yacht designer. It’s a legacy we maintain in our own firm to this day.”
For 22 years, the team has provided instantly recognisable designs for seaworthy yachts. With a fleet of over seventy yachts in active service, the studio’s portfolio now includes more than 7,500 linear feet of waterline, resulting from award-winningcollaborations with major shipbuilders around the world including
- Northern Marine
- Christensen
- Richmond Yachts
- Delta Marine
- McMullen & Wing
- Lyman-Morse
- Trinity Yachts
- The Hinckley Company
- NISI Yachts.
