The 50m flybridge sloop, Ohana, has been launched from Fitzroy Yachts, New Zealand.
Ohana was designed for a European client and she is now undergoing sea trials before her delivery in December. Design work began in 2010 after her owner approached the yard exclusively for the build.
Designed by Dubois Naval Architects, Ohana is the eighth Dubois design to be built at Fitzroy Yachts. Complementing her modern lines and timeless design is an equally beautiful interior, styled by her owner whodrew on a fresh and clean palette, with joinery workin whitewashed oak, to create a modern interior with natural colours.
Her owner will enjoy a well-appointed master cabin located aft with additional accommodation for 10 guests in five cabins. The main deck, filled with natural light, is home to a generous saloon and dining space for guests to enjoy.
Built in aluminium, with a fixed bulb keel, Ohana has a cool grey exterior with a distinctive touch of yellow.
She features a 63.1m Southern Spars rig and will fly sails by Doyle Sails and Stratis, with a total sail area of 4,085m. Under sail she will achieve speeds of up toand in excess of 18knots.
Ohana will make her much-anticipated debut as a challenger on the race circuit at the 2013 NZ Millennium Cup (Auckland, 14-17 February), joining two other Dubois designs.
