From our resting spot in the Gulf of Fethiye it was just a short 10 mile journey to Göcek our destination where we were to disembark E&E
Before we went, we visited a restaurant called Fisherman Osman for lunch. You will need to ask for directions because we never saw any signage while we were there and access by road is impossible. The only way to get there is by boat but the journey is well worth it the food is especially delicious and you can even have a Balinese Massage in the garden while you wait for the food to be prepared.
The restaurant has thoughtfully built a substantial jetty for small yachts and tenders and they have a welcoming party on the dock for every boat that arrives.
This resort town of Göcek has managed to avoid to the over-development of nearby Ölüdeniz, and its annual regatta has made it a destination more for yachters than European beach-goers. Sadly we learned the only quality hotel there had closed in recent days. We can only hope that someone reopens it soon because it is in a great location.
Spend an afternoon in town sipping cocktails and wine over freshly grilled fish dishes on a waterfront terrace, then head out to explore the bay’s numerous forested islands, coves, and and hidden inlets.
Visit Haman Bay, keep an eye out for Cleopatra’s baths. Take advantage of the protected bay and deep waters to explore the underwater world, home to some of the coast’s best scuba diving amongst submerged ruins.
