Bring Your Own Food

The concept of bringing a bottle of your own wine to a restaurant is, while not that common in Europe, at least practice many have heard of.

The concept of bringing your own food is however a little more bizzare 

Yet visit Fethtiye as we did while sailing aboard E&E and you will find the practice is quite common.  In the local market among the vendors selling fish are small restaurants whose custom comes from those who buy fish and take it with them to the chef.

Restaurants offer a flat rate of 6 Lira for not only cooking the fish but serving it at a table along with a green salad and fresh bread.

6 Turkish Lira converts to about £2 sterling €2.5 or US$3.3.  Not bad value!
