Porto Montenegro the superyacht marina development in Tivat, Montenegro, is to increase its marina’s capacity from the existing 185 berths to 370 berths for yachts up to 150m LOA, with more than 50 berths reserved for vessels over 45 metres in length.
Work on creating these additional 270 berths is expected to begin in October this year, and will be completed in Winter 2013/2014
Tony Browne, Marina Director said, “The expansion of the marina is not only a testament to the success of Porto Montenegro, it also confirms the Adriatic has firmly cemented itself as an exciting destination and home port for yachts of all size and class.
“With a growing waiting list for home port berths, and an ever increasing demand for short term summer rental, the marina expansion will help cater for this continued popularity.
“The new berth mix will appeal to all ends of the market, including the largest Mega-yachts in the world; this, coupled with state of the art facilities, truly makes Porto Montenegro the destination of convenience and choice.”
The creation of a superyacht refit and maintenance facility, in partnership with Adriatic Shipyard Bijela, is also an integral component in Porto Montenegro’s role as a year-round homeport, allowing yachts easy access to this respected refit service provider.
The refit and maintenance facility will likely be developed in two phases on a 2.5 hectare site contributed by the Adriatic Shipyard.
The total investment is estimated at around €14 million, including construction of a concrete platform, offices and concrete piers carrying a travel lift, as well as the refurbishment of the existing 170m concrete pier.
The second phase of development will include the purchase of a floating dock and expansion of the platform.
The facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
