40 Metre Sloop Under Construction in Turkey

Construction of a new 40m sloop has commenced at the Mengi Yay shipyard in Tuzla, Turkey. The naval architecture and design are by Ginton Naval Architects with the interiors the work of  Guido de Groot Design.

Building to RINA commercial classification, Yacht Marine Ltd are in charge of managing the project which sees the steel hull structure is nearing completion and the aluminium superstructure well underway.

The owners of the new yacht are moving from motor to a sail, but do not want to sacrifice comfort.

For them, accessibility to water sports is an important feature. Therefore, the transom door can open 90 degrees, creating a big swimming platform. However, in order to enlarge the swimming platform even further, a big portion of the aft deck rises two metres with the help of a hydraulic scissor lift mechanism, creating a huge swimming platform, bigger than the ones that can be found on motor yachts of similar size.

Two big aluminium side doors open to access garages containing jet skis, canoes, and other water toys; when opened, they can be used as additional swimming platforms.
