Superyacht Captains seeking dockage in London for the Olympics Games in 2012 need to get their applications in now if they are to avoid disappointment.
British Waterways, who will be facilitating berth space around Canary Wharf for some of the world’s largest yachts, say there is strong Global interest already from superyachts looking for moorings in Docklands seeking to be close to the sporting spectacle.
Superyachts between 40 and 80 metres have been contacting British Waterways to register their interest. Enquiries have been coming from yachts currently the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
Gareth Stevens of BW said: “There has been a massive amount of interest, it is very exciting.”
He suggested that some upgrading work will be needed to ensure the berths are to superyacht quality but have added that much of the work will be funded by the prices yachts will pay for the berth and that it is the British superyacht infrastructure that will be left the richer as a result.
