Russian makes £47 Million selling Superyacht to Saudi Businessman
Serial super yacht owner, Boris Berezovsky has sold his 110 metre super yacht Project Darius, built by Lurssen and launched by them in April, to a Saudi Arabian second hand car dealer. Built to rival and out-do Pelorus, owned by the tycoons arch enemy Roman Abramovich, the yacht is currently undertaking sea trials and is due for delivery later this summer.
The cost of building the yacht has been reported in the British Sunday Newspaper The Sunday Times as being £170 million and the sale price as £217 million meaning the Russain has collected a cool £47 million on the transaction.
Designed by Tim Heywood, the yachts accommodation spans seven decks and features, a helipad, a gymnasium, cinema, mini hospital and a spa.
It is however the security specifications that are the talk of the super yacht scene with reports that the yacht has been equipped with a personal “escape launch a tender with twin turbo-charged diesel engines capable of exceeding 75 knots. The yacht is also fitted with anti pirate low-frequency sound wave guns used to deter approaching assailants.
