When it comes to building a shipyard, money it seems, is no limiting factor for Sarp Yachts.
Having acquired the former, somewhat dilapidated, Dragos Yachts facility inside the Tax Free Zone in Antalya, Sarp Yachts has built a shipyard any yacht lover would be impressed with.
Using the cliche State of the Art is in fact an insult to the word state because this factory is very swish indeed.
The brand new build shed is 115 metres long, 35 metres wide and has a height of 16 metres. It itself has emergency generators and a sophisticated fire detection and fighting capability.
They might not be well known nor yet have they completed a yacht but with the 46 metre new build inside the shed, they are making history in Turkey.
The shipyard has decided to build a yacht designed by Tanju Kalaycioglu out of steel and then, instead of the conventional superstructure built out of aluminium, they are going to top it out with one made from composite. What is more they are doing it on spec.
The backing for the project comes from the the shipyard directors who own ETI a Turkish food producer famous for biscuits and the Sarp Group who are already heavily involved in four other separate areas of related businesses that include:
- Logistics
- Aircraft Charter
- Insurance
- Retail Petroleum
