After 18 years leading his own brokerage house, Nicholas Edmiston, the founder, is to step back from the day-to-day management of the family business to serve as Chairman.
His son Jamie Edmiston has returned to the company and will become Chief Executive with immediate effect.
Edmiston was founded in 1996 and quickly built a full service brokerage house offering:
- sales
- charter, management
- new construction
- crew services
Jamie Edmiston was with Edmiston between 2001 and 2011. He left, buying into the Luxury brand Linley which has recently been sold to Malaysian investors,
Involved in the yacht business for over 45 years, Nicholas Edmiston was, at one time, a broker with Berthon Yachts in Lymington. He was, in fact the broker who sold us our very first yacht, a 33ft Nauticat motorsailer.
He went on to work with Camper & Nicholson before leaving them to hang his own shingle above a door in London.
He commented: “Now is the right time to hand over day to day management to Jamie. I have no doubt that he will continue to take Edmiston from strength to strength.”
Edmiston has seen a strong 2014 so far, having sold five yachts in just five weeks in the spring, as well as seeing a surge in charter bookings, up by 15% on the previous year.
It also reports seeing major buyers re-emerge from the UK, Europe and the US over the last 12 months.
