Turkey now ranks third in the world of superyacht building after Holland and Italy, with a 9 percent market share, that sees them sailing well ahead of many other European countries.
The rating comes as figures are revealed for orders overall in 2010.
Italy tops with a market share of 37 percent, followed by the Netherlands with 11 percent and Turkey with 9 percent.
The country hosts about 300 shipyards yet only 70 produce boats and yachts.
Of these, as few as 10 shipyards in İstanbul’s Tuzla, Yalova and Antalya deal with the production of superyachts of 50 metres or longer.
