Australian superyacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni has opened a representative office in Monaco
Sorgiovanni first set up his own design studio in Fremantle, Western Australia twenty three years ago
He has since then created many bespoke interior and exterior yacht designs like the two 88.5m Oceanco’s Nirvana and Barbara and the 82m Abeking & Rasmussen Secret.
He also worked on the interior of the 126m Lürssen built Octopus in collaboration JQB Design.
Australia
Operating from a base in Australia catering to a market predominately peopled by others in the northern hemisphere is not always conducive to good business practice and it was just a matter of time before the financial lure of Monaco became attractive.
Sam Sorgiovanni believes in excellence in all his work and demands the best in materials and products for his designs and doesn’t hesitate to recommend Australian parts when he knows they meet his high standards. He points to his country of Australia as giving him some of the inspiration used in creating his unique designs. Since Australians enjoy the distinction of living on the largest island in the world, the lifestyle and climate of Australia continues to play a large part in his interest of and passion for the world of ships. Its proximity to Asian countries provides yet another reason for his design inspiration and his decision to maintain Freemantle as the primary base of operation.
In the course of his work Sorgiovanni travels the world to consult with his clients to find out just what they want in a yacht. Australia is miles and hours away from all other continents and in the design business, time is of the essence. The opening of a representative office in Monaco became the logical next step for the designer.
Michele Flandin
The office will be run by Michele Flandin, a lady who is no stranger to the industry having spent 25 years in the yachting industry twelve of them as Marketing Manager of the Dutch builder Oceanco
Now with the move to Monaco, in the heart of the luxury yachting capital, Sorgiovanni Designs is hoping to consolidate and build on his reputation in the European market.
