Ask any yachting editor or journalist and they will tell you the same. There is no money in it! As titles all around us cut their rates to contributors or cease publication altogether there is a growing desire among yachting writers to find an alternative way of making a living.
Former editor of the German magazine Boote Exclusiv, Marcus Krall has done just that. He has joined Ocean Independence to work in their Dusseldorf office, where he will be leading new business development, PR and marketing within key German-speaking countries, including Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Marcus has previously worked on some of Europe’s most prestigious nautical titles. As Editor-in-Chief for Boote Exclusiv, he was involved in the development of a team for their English counterpart publication, Boat Exclusive.
Having fostered relationships with shipyards around the world and having spent time on board many superyachts, Marcus has formed a deep understanding and connection with the yachting industry. Adding to his credentials, Marcus has been a Jury member of the Monaco Yacht Show, the Finest Interior and the Seamaster awards. With established contacts across the German media and PR landscape, Marcus will play a central role in helping to increase brand awareness of Ocean Independence in these important markets.
Founded in 2005, Ocean Independence now has more than 100 employees, operating from 15 offices around the world, speaking 24 different languages.
The full service superyacht brokerage company, specialises in yacht sales, charter, new build and management and is one of the fastest-growing companies in the luxury-yachting sector.
It has the largest crewed charter fleet in the world and a workforce that combines more years of marine expertise than any other brokerage company globally.
Toby Maclaurin, Sales and Marketing Director for Ocean Independence, says:
“Recent wealth reports clearly show continued importance of the Central European market, where Ocean Independence has always been strong, and we see good potential for further growth with Marcus’s appointment being a key part of this strategy”.
