Forestry England has confirmed a major update for Fineshade Wood. The popular overnight parking area will reopen as a fully managed campsite. Following a competitive tender process, Camping New Forest Ltd will run the site. This change marks a fresh chapter for campers visiting the woodland location.
Experienced Operator Takes the Helm
Camping New Forest already manages 11 campsites within New Forest National Park. The company has built a strong reputation for sustainable camping experiences. Moreover, it focuses on education, conservation, and community engagement. As a result, visitors can expect a thoughtful and environmentally responsible approach.
Fineshade Wood sits within the historic Rockingham Forest. You will find it between Stamford and Corby along the A43. Locals often describe the site as a hidden gem. In addition, the woodland attracts walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers year-round.
Upgraded Facilities and Onsite Support
The site closed briefly to allow essential preparation work. However, it will soon welcome visitors again with improved facilities.

Campers will benefit from onsite wardens and better amenities. Previously, the area operated as a simple motorhome parking site. Now, the new campsite will offer a more complete outdoor experience. Further improvements will roll out over time.
Sustainable Camping
The goal is to create campsites that locals value and visitors remember. Consequently, guests can expect opportunities to learn about and explore nature.
A Forest Destination for All
Fineshade Wood already offers trails for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Families can enjoy play areas, a sensory garden, and an activity trail. Additionally, the visitor centre and café sit close to the campsite. Therefore, campers have everything they need for a relaxed forest stay.
Why Camp at Fineshade Wood?
Camping here offers a direct connection with nature. It also supports Forestry England’s mission to protect and promote woodlands.
Above all, the site provides a peaceful base for outdoor adventures. Expect a welcoming atmosphere and a strong focus on sustainability.
