Business with Pleasure Blend

Project Milky Ways challenges the rule about superyachts mixing business with pleasure.

This 50-metre yacht creates a private sanctuary for family life and business hosting.

The experienced owner often charters 1,000GT yachts in the Mediterranean high season.  However, he wanted a smaller yacht for private use in Brazil and the Caribbean.  He chose MCP shipyard in Brazil to realise the project locally.  He also insisted the yacht remained below the 499gt threshold.

MCP introduced the owner to Dutch studio Vripack.  Vripack developed the exterior design and naval architecture.  Meanwhile, MCP handled interior design, project management, and construction.

Vripack shaped a highly flexible layout to meet the owner’s complex brief. The yacht needed space for both a large family and business guests.

People Pad

A standout feature is the “people pad” terrace aft on the main deck.  This overwater lounge steps up to create a distinct open-air social zone.  A double-sided bar serves both the people pad and aft seating area.

This design creates a second sun deck closer to the water.  As a result, guests enjoy exposure without losing connection to the sea.

Smart Naval Architecture

The plumb bow increases interior volume forward.  Designers used this space for generous crew cabins and a large bridge.  They also improved service flow between the pantry and galley.

Engineers optimised comfort for smoother cruising in varied weather.  The yacht’s long, light, and slender form also supports ride comfort.

On the lower deck, a sheltered beach club connects directly to a wellness area.

Guests can move easily between the sauna, day head, and fitness space.  An oversized spa pool anchors the beach club.  Two fold-down terraces expand the area by 40 percent when deployed.

Layered Exterior Design

The bridge deck offers al fresco dining and seating around a firepit.  Forward, a helideck supports operations for an Airbus EC145.

When not in use, the foredeck doubles as a basketball court.  Below, a concealed garage stores a 7-metre Castoldi tender.  On the sun deck, loungers, seating, and a sit-up bar create a relaxed setting.  A glass-fronted pool sits under a protective hardtop bimini.

Vripack layered the exterior layout to maximise functionality.  Large windows and flowing curves keep guests connected to their surroundings.  Distinctive side cutouts give the yacht a unique profile.  A custom-designed Jacuzzi further strengthens the visual identity.

Owner-Focused Interior Layout

The owner requested two dedicated offices on board.  His main office sits on the bridge deck beside the sky lounge. This lounge also includes a bar and a walk-in wine cellar.  The cellar stores up to 250 bottles and 10 magnums.

A second office for his wife connects to the full-beam master suite.  Two VIP cabins and two twin cabins occupy the lower deck.  The main deck cigar lounge adds drama with a fold-down balcony and TV.

Project Milky Ways reaches a top speed of 21 knots.  She cruises 3,500 nautical miles at 11 knots.  Delivery is scheduled for June 2027.
