Windstar Cruises has officially taken delivery of Star Seeker at WestSEA Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
The 224-guest yacht becomes the first new build in Windstar’s Star Class fleet expansion programme.
Importantly, Star Seeker signals a major step forward for the small-ship specialist’s next generation of cruising.
Star Class Expansion Gains Momentum
Star Seeker will soon be joined by sister ship Star Explorer.

The second yacht launches in December 2026 and receives its christening at London’s Tower Bridge in May 2027.
Together, the yachts introduce advanced environmental systems and unlock new itineraries in Alaska, Asia and remote regions.
At the same time, they preserve Windstar’s hallmark intimacy and personalised service.
Handover Ceremony Marks Key Milestone
The handover ceremony formally transferred ownership from WestSEA to Windstar Cruises.
Company representatives included president Christopher Prelog and COO Stijn Creupelandt.
They were joined by CCO Janet Bava and vice president John Gunner, who led the build programme.
Captain Tom Schofield and his delivery crew also attended after months of preparation.

Shipyard leaders from WestSEA and Mystic Cruises completed the ceremony alongside Windstar’s team.
Leadership Reflects on the Build
“Taking delivery of a new ship is a defining moment,” said Windstar president Christopher Prelog.
He praised the craftsmanship, collaboration and dedication shown throughout the build process.
Meanwhile, WestSEA chairman Mario Ferreira highlighted the project’s ambition and responsible design approach.
He confirmed the yacht meets Windstar’s goals for comfort, access and environmental performance.
Final Preparations Before Maiden Voyage
Star Seeker now enters final outfitting ahead of her December 2025 debut.
Her maiden voyage will sail from Málaga, crossing the Atlantic to Miami.

Miami will host the christening ceremony on 15 January 2026.
Following this, the yacht begins an inaugural Caribbean season.
Later in the year, Star Seeker returns to Alaska and then ventures onward to Japan.
Designed for Destination-Forward Discovery
The yacht introduces several enhancements across accommodation, dining, wellness and adventure.
Key highlights include:
- 112 ocean-view suites, most with verandas or infinity windows
- Two Horizon Owner’s Suites with wraparound balconies
- Five dining venues, including new Basil + Bamboo
- WorldSpa by Windstar with expanded wellness facilities
- A redesigned marina for watersports and exploration
Open decks also provide excellent wildlife viewing and scenic cruising opportunities.
Advanced Sustainability and Safety Systems
Star Seeker features Tier III NOx-rated Rolls-Royce engines and pump jet thrusters.

She also includes shore power connectivity and advanced wastewater treatment.
Forward-facing sonar and modern navigation systems further enhance operational safety.
Every system reflects Windstar’s long-term environmental commitment.
Where Star Seeker Will Sail
Following her Miami christening, Star Seeker launches a Caribbean inaugural season.
Ports include the British Virgin Islands, San Juan and the Dominican Republic.
Smaller island calls feature Bequia, Mayreau, Pigeon Island and Îles des Saintes.

The itinerary also includes historic cities such as Santo Domingo and Cartagena.
Alaska and Japan on the Horizon
After the Caribbean, Star Seeker heads north for a full Alaska season.
Her compact size suits glacier cruising, Zodiac landings and wildlife encounters.
In late 2026 and 2027, she sails to Japan for immersive cultural itineraries.
Highlights include lesser-visited ports, traditional arts and regional cuisine.
A Mystery Cruise between Hokkaido and Osaka adds further intrigue.
Additionally, a Destination Discovery Event in Tomonoura offers rare cultural access.
