Sailors Store Gear Until Spring

As summer ends, many sailors store their gear until spring. Henri-Lloyd advises on caring for technical sailing clothing effectively.

More Than Sailing Apparel

Henri-Lloyd is not just a clothing brand. It represents a lifestyle, mindset, and invitation to enjoy life’s best days.

Founded in Manchester in 1963, the brand has always focused on world-class weatherproof protection for sailors.

In 2022, the Monte Rosa Sport Group in Oslo acquired Henri-Lloyd, marking a new era of innovation and growth.

Innovation in Sustainable Fabric Technology

Henri-Lloyd leads the industry with eco-friendly C0 Durable Water Repellent (DWR) technology.

They were among the first to remove harmful PFC chemicals from waterproof apparel production.

This innovation delivers strong protection while reducing environmental impact.

Caring for Waterproof Sailing Jackets and Salopettes

Henri-Lloyd recommends rinsing clothing with fresh water after each use to remove salt and grime.

Use a washing machine on a cold, gentle cycle with non-bio detergent.

Avoid bleach, conditioners, or biological soaps, which can damage fabric performance.

Close all zips and fasteners before washing, and leave garments the right way out to protect seams.

Restoring Water Repellency

After heavy use, water may stop beading on fabric. This signals the need to reapply a PFC-free DWR coating.

Always follow product instructions carefully when restoring water repellency.

Dry garments naturally or tumble dry on low heat for 15–20 minutes to reactivate the coating.

If needed, iron on low heat without steam, using a towel to protect the fabric.

Proper Storage Tips

Once washed and dried, sailors should store waterproofs correctly.

Hang them in a cool, well-ventilated space until your next sailing season begins.

A Legacy of Performance and Responsibility

Henri-Lloyd’s pioneering spirit still defines the brand today.

It continues to create exceptional sailing clothing for all conditions, always supported by sustainable practices and forward-thinking innovation.
