National Geographic-Lindblad Fleet Names Two Galápagos Ships

Four ships from the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions fleet — DelfinaGeminiIslander II, and Endeavour II — gathered in Academy Bay. They did so to mark the official christening of the new vessels.

This rare gathering highlights Lindblad’s deep roots in the Galápagos and expansive expedition offerings. As the archipelago’s longest-standing international operator, Lindblad reinforces its commitment to exploration and conservation.

Diverse traveller needs

The newly named ships cater to diverse traveller needs. National Geographic Delfina is a sleek 16-guest catamaran, ideal for families and private charters. National Geographic Endeavour II, with capacity for 96 guests, appeals to adventure-seekers and divers.

The naming ceremony celebrated Lindblad’s dedication to education, community, and conservation. Guests included local dignitaries, expedition leadership, staff, crew and their families. And multigenerational community members.  Lindblad began operating civilian expeditions in 1967 and has maintained strong partnerships with local communities and the National Park. The company has supported over 100 environmental and community projects in the region.

Both Delfina and Gemini entered service earlier this year, offering elevated expedition experiences. Delfinaaccommodates 16 guests in eight staterooms, half with private balconies. She features an observation deck, al fresco dining, and Zodiacs, snorkelling gear, and paddleboards.  Gemini hosts 48 guests in 28 ocean-view cabins, including balcony suites. It provides a fitness centre, spa, whirlpool, outdoor café, and extensive exploration gear. Staffing includes Ecuadorian and Galapagueño crew.
