
El Ombú de Areco is an Argentinian estancia located in San Antonio de Areco. It is just a short 120 km (75 miles) road journey from Buenos Aires.
The estancia consists of a once magnificent 1880 farmhouse that has belonged to the Boelcke family since 1934.
Since 1993, this traditional Estancia in San Antonio de Areco has been receiving tourists from Argentina and beyond.

Sadly, since then, when clearly a large amount of money was spent, very little has been reinvested. So now the property is looking tired and run down.
In total the estancia has 300 hectares, divided between grazing livestock and agriculture. They have more than 350 heads of Aberdeen Angus cattle and 70 horses. Alongside the cattle and horses, they have fields planted with soy, corn, wheat, oats or pastures.

Guests come here to enjoy a day in Buenos Aires countryside or to stay in one of 11-bedroom suites.
While at El Ombú, guests who stay, have use of living room, game room, swimming pools, soccer and volleyball pitches.

Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as horseback riding. They can also ride a sulky carriage or watch a folk show with live music and dancers. The estancia also hosts demonstrations of traditional Argentine horse whispering known locally as “Doma India”.
All accommodation rooms have private bathroom, television, air conditioning, fan and heating. Each room is uniquely designed and decorated. All have excellent natural light. The hotel offers double, triple and quadruple rooms, with the possibility of adding extra beds and cots. For large families, they also offer interconnecting rooms
The estancia in San Antonio de Areco is an ideal retreat for a short quiet stay or an extended visit. As well as for business events, family celebrations, birthdays or weekend getaways.
Overnight
Overnight full board stays cost around US$400 per night. Included in this price is bed and continental breakfast. Lunch including empanadas, asado criollo, dessert and coffee with drinks included. This followed at 4pm with coffee, tea or mate and cakes. Finally, dinner offers a fixed menu with appetizer, main course, drink and dessert
Guests can 2 horse rides per day each of 1 to 1,5 hours long. They can also enjoy music shows with live music folk dances and equestrian demonstrations put on for the day visitors.

If you do not want to stay, you can visit the estancia just for the day. And enjoy full contact with nature and with the customs and typical food of the Argentine countryside.
This option is ideal for taking a break, celebrating a birthday or having a party in a different, relaxed and fun environment!
A day stay costs US$120 per person and includes a welcome snack of empanadas and drinks. This is followed by horseback or carriage rides. These take you around the property’s 300 hectares, where you can see a typical Argentine estancia in action.
Asado
Lunch at El Ombú is served at 1 pm. It consists of an “Asado criollo” with a variety of salads, drinks, dessert and coffee.

After lunch there is a live music and folk dancing show. This is followed by equestrian demonstrations either a “doma india” or a “tropilla”
From then until teatime guests can enjoy all the hotel facilities. These include the swimming pools, bicycles, soccer and volleyball courts, pool table, ping pong, table soccer, sun loungers and more.
Snacks including homemade cakes and with coffee, tea, mate, soda or juice are served just before going home time.
