One of Dominica’s safest anchorages for superyachts is in front of the Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort.
Located on the water in Roseau, Dominica’s capital, it is the Caribbean’s first All-Inclusive, Island-Included resort.
The country’s only downtown hotel, Fort Young affords guests, and those landing ashore there, an unmatched proximity to the “Nature Island’s” vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, exhilarating activities and some of the island’s most prized attractions, like Trafalgar Falls, Middleham Falls, Freshwater Lake, segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail, and world-renowned diving.
The Hotel has unveiled its new oceanfront Zemi Spa and Compass Gym. The spa is part of the resort’s master plan expansion, which includes the enhancement of 40 Oceanfront rooms and suites, 31 of which are completed.
Future enhancements and additions will include 60 Fort rooms; a state-of-the-art fitness centre featuring eco-friendly equipment; a business centre; a new bar and lounge; a 200-seat conference room; a 250-seat sun deck for weddings and other events; an art gallery; a wine and rum cellar; a gift shop; and three new meeting rooms.
The Zemi Spa features two private treatment rooms and two manicure and pedicure stations where certified and therapists conduct a variety of services and treatments, including Swedish, Deep Tissue and Volcanic Rock massages, Body Treatments and Signature Rituals featuring indulgent, locally-inspired products. Guests can also book a package of multiple services. Spa visitors can also make use of the 24-hour Compass Gym overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
“For those who want it, Dominica is full of adventure and physical activities like hiking and diving, so being able to give guests the opportunity for respite and relaxation in a serene setting is important to our offering,” said Dinesh Kissoon, Fort Young Hotel’s general manager. “The Zemi Spa offers numerous wellness treatments from restorative massages and detoxifying body scrubs to rejuvenating foot treatments and luxurious nail services. We have incorporated locally-sourced products like lemongrass, ginger and botanical extracts to bring nature into every experience.”
The Zemi Spa is named after a spiritual talisman highly prized among the Taino people of the Caribbean who believed the sculptural object housed the spirits of their ancestors and powerful deities. Through its name, the Zemi Spa embraces the calming energy of Dominica’s heritage, which is further enhanced by the island-inspired rituals and treatments on offer, quality interiors and overall design sensibility.
In late 2021, Fort Young Hotel became the Caribbean’s first-ever “All-Inclusive, Island-Included” resort experience. With this, guests enjoy two 60-minute massages at the Zemi Spa, as well as giving guests access to activities and offerings beyond the hotel — from a lionfish hunting expedition or hiking and exploring some of the island’s best attractions.
Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort recently unveiled 31 fully refreshed Oceanfront Rooms, Oceanfront Deluxe Rooms and Oceanfront Suites.
Replete with panoramic seaside views, exceptionally stylish furnishings and a bright colour palette, the reimagined guestrooms are designed to make guests feel even more warmly welcomed while expressing Dominica’s vibrant spirit.
