Just a one hour drive away from the luxury superyacht marina resort of Porto Montenegro lies a winery of fairy tale magnitude.

The robust 2018 Epoha red with its fairy tale finish got a big thumbs up from us!

Branded as Plantaže the winery was one of the principle sponsors of the Superyacht Winter Games hosted by Porto Montenegro high in the moutons at the Kolasin 1600 ski resort and that gave us the perfect opportunity to taste the product. The robust 2018 Epoha red got a big thumbs up from us!

Plantaže owns Ćemovsko polje, the largest vineyard in a single complex, in Europe covering impressive area of around 2,310 hectares

It is one of the most beautiful  in an area that is producing some really fine wines and the story behind its success reads like a fairy tale

For over half a century, the Montenegrin company has been one of the greatest and most important producers of graps, wines and grape brandy in South eastern Europe.

Producing over 20 million kilos of grapes annually, selling more than 16 million bottled products in over 40 countries all over world, Plantaže is a fairy tale story in its own right.  It owns and manages three wine cellars, with a capacity of 330,000 hectalitres, a 40-hectare nursery of rootstocks, an 85-hectare peach plantation, and over 17,000 olive trees.

With the background of a thousand years long Montengrin tradition of viticulture and wine making and Plantaže focuses its attention at autochtonous grape varieties and authentic Montenegrin wine, reflecting Montenegrin culture and spirit of the unique area, located between the sea and mountains. That passion has not withered even after half a century.

Authentic Montenegrin wine reflects culture and the ambiance of the area, thanks to the soil composition and favourable position.  Both the autochtonous and world renowned grape varieties have been grown successfully.

Plantaze’s Cemovsko polje vineyard contains 28 different grape varieties, of which 70 percent isVranac, native grape varieties. Vranac is an ancient Montenegrin variety, but its real origin is hidden in the depths of history.

It is a black-skinned variety and produces dense, deeply coloured red wines with flavours and aromas ranging from sour cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant to chocolate, mint and vanilla.

In the heart of the vineyard, the Šipčanik wine cellar, based at a former military airport and now housing two million litres of wine, is a destination in its own right.
