The words Going, going, gone are synonymous within the world of fine art auctions but are less often associated with the sale of a superyacht.
BVA Auctions, the largest online auction house in Europe is hoping to change that as it auctions off Nordic Star a 37 metre superyacht with an ownership history that includes movie stars and Hollywood legends,
Built by CRN in 1978 Nordic Star was originally commissioned by Virna Lisi Italy’s equivalent to Marilyn Monroe. Prior to construction Lisi specifically asked that all furniture below waist height be made round so her stockings would never ladder.
Nordic Star’s ownership history went onto include movie stars and Hollywood legends Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis.
The online auction will not only offer the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of these legends, but to experience first-hand the yacht’s Italian fittings, hand-crafted woodwork, antiques and unique works of art on board.
Over 37 metres in length and featuring five cabins with en-suite bathrooms, twelve berths, lavish Italian fittings, hand-carved wood and antique furniture, and a luxurious VIP cabin.
The interior features refined Italian fabrics, amber-coloured panels and large windows that let in plenty of light. A low handcrafted sideboard separates the semi-open lounge from the spacious dining room.
The master suite with double bed, loveseat, dressing table, work area and bathroom is located in the forward section of the main deck. The lower deck is designed in such a way as to accommodate ten guests. The yacht also offers a luxurious VIP cabin.
The comfortable lounge on the bridge deck is the perfect place to relax on board in luxury. The extensive on-deck facilities allow guests to dine al fresco and enjoy the weather.
From day one, the Nordic Star has been maintained with the greatest care. The yacht’s original mood and feel have been preserved, making it a unique piece of maritime history.
