Expansion is on the cards at Nobiskrug, the German shipyard, best known for building the ugly sailing yacht A and the wonderfully flamboyant motoryacht Artifact.
Expanding the capacity and capabilities of its new build and refit business, their plans include the purchase of the historic Lindenau facility located in the city of Kiel located 45 kilometres away from Nobiskrug’s existing facility in Rendsburg.
Reporting a high demand for new build projects and large refits despite the global economic impact of Covid-19 in 2020, Privinvest, the shipyard’s parent company, have approved an investment package to upgrade the Lindenau site located at the entrance of the Kiel Canal.
The location of the additional yard is well positioned to support Nobiskrug’s growing new build and refit order book and with a new 165-metre floating dock, it will boost capacity to new heights.
Now celebrating its 115th birthday, the German superyacht builder has been at the epicentre of superyacht innovation since the iconic delivery of 92.4-metre Tatoosh for Microsoft Co-Founder; Paul Allen in 2000.
Since then the yard has delivered a select portfolio of innovative custom-built superyachts, reflecting the company’s pledge to concentrate on one single project for one single client and build superyachts that will last for generations to come.
The yards latest delivery, the high-tech and environmentally-conscious, hybrid superyacht Artefact built for Mike Lazaridis of Blackberry phone fame, is just one example that cements this contention.
Small tugs, big frigates, colossal tankers or graceful superyachts. Lindenau has repaired almost everything that floats. The yard modernises, refurbishes, converts, refit and performs class renewals, taking on anything and everything from small jobs the likes of welding a broken anchor chain to complex tasks like hull extensions.
Their adaptable and reliable teams respond immediately and can be on board in no time at all at any hour of the day or night, when you need them, 365 days a year.
