Sponsors had to dig deep this year and double up on the list of fantastic prizes when two captains sharing a rotational position won charter captain of the year award at the Monaco Yacht Show.
Each year for the past 19 years Fraser Yachts have held an Awards Dinner at the Monaco Yacht Club. Each year that event becomes more and more lavish not only with the food and drink but also because of the value of the prizes on offer. It has in terms of yacht crew become the hottest ticket in town and everyone it seems wants to be there and watch their peers win top awards.
Frasers Captains Awards Dinner
There are three top prizes. The first goes to the Charter Crew of the year serving on board a yacht of less than 50 metres. It used to be for yachts of under 35 metres but even here inflation is beginning to take hold as charter yachts become even larger. This year a glittering bag of useful prizes was picked up by Captain Ian Hawkins and his crew on board Quasar. Second prize saw the same portfolio of prizes go to Captain Scott Barsin and his crew aboard the superyacht Lucky Lady.
With a prize list as long as your arm topped up by a very desirable electric motor bike from Unijet as the top prize; Charter Captain of the year went to the duo of commanders who run Here Comes the Sun a 63 metre Dutch built superyacht from Amels the superyacht building division of Damen shipbuilders. Captains James Griffith and Michael Droszcz took to the podium to be awarded their prize by Raphael Sauleau the CEO of Fraser Yachts
