National Marine Suppliers, the Fort Lauderdale based yacht supplier and logistical support group, has opened an office in Auckland, New Zealand.
From there, the expanding company hopes to assist in every facet of the yachting industry. From logistics of dockage and fuelling to engineering and deck expertise. They supply items such as toiletry luxuries, galley equipment and appliances. They have extensive stocks of safety and medical supplies and certifications. And can be called upon for uniforms and foul weather gear, cordage and anchor hardware.
Feedback
The move comes in response to feedback gathered by the company from its superyacht clients over the years. They suggest that with the growing number of yachts cruising the Pacific, and the America’s Cup scheduled for 2021, the timing is right to launch the chandlery brand into the region.
Yet the evidence is that with the almost complete collapse of the superyacht building industry in both Australia and New Zealand the opposite may be true. Our own research suggests that fewer superyachts are cruising the waters Australasia than was the case a decade ago.
Brushing this aside, National Marine founder Dean Du Toit says, “National Marine Pacific will be well positioned from our base in Auckland. It will provide ongoing service and assistance to our valued yacht clients, local agents, management companies and individuals alike who venture into the Pacific,”
New office
The new office will act as the supplier’s distribution hub for the region. It will be able to procure the products yachts know and love as well as supplying local brands. These will include those products with cult followings which are hard to obtain.
As part of the company’s commitment to providing a full service experience, National Marine Pacific will offer complete shore support in New Zealand. From bunkering to docking and management of logistics. They will also provide a full range of shoreside support work.
Bringing over 20 years’ experience working in the industry, Mark Donaldson joins as National Marine Pacific’s managing director.
Passionate about the Pacific
Passionate about the Pacific, Mark will be responsible for driving the brand forward with a team of yachting professionals.
Mark began in the superyacht industry starting work onboard yachts and became Director for Yacht Management for Y.Co in Monaco. He left there to create his own superyacht agency Marinelogix in New Zealand.
His time on the management team of the Oneworld Challenge for the America’s Cup as logistics/operations manager in both New Zealand and the US will prove useful.
Combined that with National Marine Suppliers’ logistics and network he is able to deliver a joint support and supply ability. He hopes to curate cruises throughout the far reaches of the Pacific, as well as the America’s Cup and beyond.
