Legend has been sold

The 74 metre expedition superyacht Legend has been sold by Y.Co

She was built in 1974 as an ice breaking tug for use with the Soviet Navy.  They used her to clear passages for nuclear submarines making passage into and out of Russia’s ports.

That is the story at least!

We were part of her crew during her first rebuild to become the expedition yacht Giant. During that time we saw a lot of dodgy looking electronics removed.  Back then it was suggested she might have had a more clandestine history that just breaking ice!

Rhubarb and Custard

Painted a ruby red with a cream superstructure Giant was rudely nicknamed Rhubarb and Custard by several charter brokers. They were offering her as a luxury charter yacht.

Since her re-launch, Legendhas cruised from Antarctica to Greenland and beyond.

Alongside the completion of the technical and system upgrades, extensive modifications to her exterior are being made. Her stern was extended by 3.6 metres and it was equipped with a swim platfor.

The helicopter landing pad has been commercially certificated and a submarine is frequently stored in a garage on the forward deck.

Both the helicopter and submarine are offered for charters at an extra cost.
